PHOTO GALLERY ‘CHURCHES ON THE MOVE’

The traction engine maneuvering the Owaka Church vestry

Over the years photographs have accumulated highlighting the various strategies used to tranfer  a church building from one location to another.   Our Spring Gallery highlights the moving of several churches spanning 100 years.  There are others which we know of but have no images to display.  If you have knowledge or photographs of churches on the move we would be delighted to learn more.

  1. Very interesting.

In my country in Finland there are few churches moved to outdoor museums. Normally on countryside old churches stand there where they were built. Centers of villages have been moved few kilometers, but churches stand in their original places.

Welcome to visit my blog in which I have plenty of photos from wooden churches and from stone churches. Also many others things as comparing memorials on grave yards, bell towers etc.

    Have a nice day!
